Donau MK2 is a 3 Way high-end floorstanding speaker with closed bassrange system, ceramic midrange and air-motion-transformer. The tweeter is the very linear Air Motion Transformer Audaphon AMT-1i with very low distorsion. In the Donau MK2 kit the Accuton C173-6-191E is used as mids speaker. This Accuton midrange speaker you can find in a lot of high quality speakers in the five digit price range. The woofers are Wavecor SW182BD01 with 8 mm linear excursion and low distorsion balance drive technology. This woofers are very good to use in closed bass systems.
The crossover consists of a 3rd order high-pass filter (18 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter, a bandpass filter (12 dB high - and 12 dB lowpass) for the two mids. The woofer is connected to a 2nd order low-pass filter.
Between 40 Hz and 21000 Hz, the frequency response of this loudspeaker is very linear on axis. The decay spectrum is nearly perfect. At low volume, i.e. 85 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are lower than 0.4% above 500 Hz and below 0.6% at 95 dB at 1 m .

The high-end kit is delivered with an CFC I-core coil instead of an Backlack I-core coil for the woofer. In the filter for the tweeter the capacitors are Clarity Cap MR capacitors. The serial coil for the midrange are a CFC coil and the serial capacitor is an Clarity Cap ESA. All other capacitors are Clarity Cap PWA. All other inductances are baked varnished coils for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered.

If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).
