Visaton Classic 200 GF is a 3-way loudspeaker, paving the way for entering the High-End arena. It's a bass reflex speaker with the port at the front. For bass a GF 200 is being used. Due to its stiff glass fibre cone and the long-throw rubber surround a high power handling even at long cone excursions is ensured.

Responsible for midrange frequencies is the TI 100 with titanium diaphragm – one of the best Visaton drivers. The extremely light and stiff titanium coned driver is a reference in attention to detail and low distortion.

From 2.200 Hz the G 20 SC 8 Ohm, a fabric dome tweeter, takes over and operates up to 30.000 Hz.

The result is a high quality, perfectly harmonised speaker at a moderate size, providing high-end enjoyment in a standard living room.

Excerpt from the review in Hobby HiFi 2/2009

... "The most striking characteristic of the Classic GF is the immensely tight, fat and powerful low bass with great attention to detail and a punch that doesn't lose any of its energy even at the lowest frequencies. From double bass to kettledrum the Classic 200 GF provides a convincing bass foundation. The transition from bass to midrange is excellent. Male vocals at around 400 Hz are crystal clear and depicted with enormous precision, revealing clear lines and an exemplary homogeneity. Female vocals too, are realistic. The Depeche Mode classic "Dream On" performed almost hymn-like by the Belgian girl choir Scala conducted by the Kolacny Brothers was met with thunderous applause. Soundtracks with too much presence are unmasked mercilessly. Marla Glen almost sunk her teeth into the microphone when performing "The Cost of Freedom". Mistakes or exaggerations by the recording engineer are revealed ruthlessly. The three-dimensional imaging certainly emphasises on depth. The superficial and almost menacing representation like from some d'Appolito designs is replaced by a certain reservation. The advantage of this spatial interpretation is an amazing depth. In conjunction with an excellent stage width the resulting three-dimensionality is definitely above criticism."

Visaton Classic 200 with high-end crossover

If you prefer to build the crossover yourself we have the following suggestions. Since the cabinet is quite spacious the crossover components should be mounted on a wooden board. High quality components are used throughout.

- Jantzen MKP capacitors in the signal path

- Jantzen MKP capacitors in parallel to the bass driver

- Jantzen MKP capacitors in the signal path to the tweeter
- MOX10 resistors throughout
- high quality coils (baked varnish for the tweeter)
the components:

- 4.7 mH ferrite core coil, 0.24 Ohm
- 4.7 mH H100 ferrite core coil
- 1.0 mH baked varnish air core coil, 1 mm
- 15 mH ferrite core coil
- 0.33 mH baked varnish coil, 0.7 mm
- 82 μF MKP capacitor / 400V
- 47 μF MKP capacitor / 400V
- 0.33 μF MKP capacitor / 400V
(instead of three 1 μF ELCO's in series)
- 15 μF MKP capacitor / 400V
- 150 ELCO, non-etched (82 + 68 in parallel)
- 6.8 μF MKP capacitor / 400V
- 8.2 μF MKP capacitor / 400V
- 2.2 Ohm MOX10 resistor (red-red-gold)
- 6.8 Ohm MOX10 resistor (blue-grey-gold)
- 1.5 Ohm MOX10 resistor (brown-green-gold)

In addition a terminal with gold plated brass binding posts, cable for internal wiring, screws, 2 bags (=4 mats) damping material, the Visaton bass reflex tube and the drivers.
