"Macro Cube" is sealed subwoofer designed by Bernd Timmermanns. This sub is more suited for smaller rooms where larger subs won't fit.

Closed subwoofers have a tighter and cleaner bass compared with bass reflex types. On the other hand, in the low bass range they are less efficient. If a sealed sub is required to produce lower bass a capacitor in series is recommended. However, this leads to disadvantages that are common to both speaker types.

The Macro Cube contains the reasonably priced Mivoc XAW 310 HC, that needs to be combined with a subwoofer module like the Mivoc AM 80 MK II.

Excerpt of the Hobby HiFi review:

... "A recording often used for reviews is "We Get Requests" from 1963 by the legendary Oscar Peterson Trio. The double bass by Ray Brown, alternately picked or played with the bow puts any sound system to the test. The Macro Cube passed this test with flying colours: it was really exciting to hear the double bass groaning and to see this instrument in full size and clear-cut before your eyes. The second recording used was "Kodo" by Sheffield Lab, especially the track where a gigantic Miya Daiko drum was played by two drummers simultaneously. Breakers of incredibly low bass waves were shaking the room. Nobody had really expected the Macro Cube to be so full of commitment. As long as the volume wasn't too high this massive instrument was depicted lifelike. Extraordinary! One tends to ask the question whether it makes sense to go for more powerful bass modules. " ... "For those who can do without extreme volume this bass module is the ideal low bass addition to existing speakers."

Our Macro Cube versions consist of

the driver, the series capacitor, once with a single capacitor, then as a composite capacitor (consisting of 9 single capacitors in series). Another version come with a bigger DT 105 amplifier module.
