The flat sub is a flat subwoofer that is easy to integrate in smaller rooms due to a depth of only 12 centimetres.

The flat sub is modelled on the CT 198 but has considerably more power. Christian Gather designed to variations: a sealed cabinet and a transmission line. The transmission line is somewhat larger than the sealed cabinet and is, therefore, capable of reproducing frequencies from just below 20 Hz instead of 30/35 Hz.

The driver of the flat sub is the car loudspeaker Pulsar-10 by Carpower/Monacor International. The driver's main characteristic is the extremely solid basket that is designed for a shallow mounting depth.

The driver is amplified by the active module SAM-2 by Monacor that is powerful and solid.

Excerpt from the review in Klang+Ton 4/2008:
... "We started with the sealed version, placed in different location like free-standing, against the wall, beside and beneath the couch. This version is relatively simple to set-up especially if some experience is at hand. Most the time the subwoofer will be initially too loud anyway and needs to be turned down gradually until it fits. It's obviously a bit awkward to fiddle around beneath the couch, we, therefore, let the module stick out until the volume was spot-on. That's sometimes not possible due to the type of furniture, but it has to be done. Mind you, the adjustment has to be done hopefully only once. With angled plugs a lot of space can be saved if it gets a bit tight close to the wall or beneath the couch. Even the sealed version produced a fat, tight and controlled bass. Adjusted correctly, the bass extends low enough and is adequate for handling the rumbling of a movie, the pounding rhythms of techno beat and punch of rock bass drums. Especially close to the listening position it's a lot of fun. A positive side effect is that there will be some more reserves after the sub's volume has been reduced. Not that this is necessary since the Pulsar is in no way inferior to a standard 25 inch driver and can even match a 30 inch hi-fi woofer. But it doesn't harm to have something up the sleeves. After connecting the transmission line we asked ourselves the question if the sound character is going to change or would we feel the lower bass. In short: yes! At the same power stability the TML could still add some more oomph and extended the bass even further, provided the source allowed it resulting in an still fatter bass. The sealed version is a fraction tighter, the TML, however, is rolling and rumbling, the purpose of building a speaker of this kind. And, obviously, with this speaker one should have listened to a church organ; and at the latest this is the moment to be totally flabbergasted. One wonders how such a fat and low bass could come out of flat and inconspicuous box." ...

Our kit contains per speaker

- Carpower Pulsar-10
- Monacor SAM-2 active module
- 5 mats damping material (3 bags) for the GES kit
- 3 mats damping material (2 bags) for the TML kit
- 0.5 metre cable 2x2.5 mm2
- 8 Allen screws 5x30 mm
The two kits differ in quantity of damping material; the larger transmission line requires one bag (= 2 mats) more than the sealed version.
